Abstract

As we march towards an era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Scholarly publishing, research support management and ethical philosophy needs to be re-looked into to ensure fair use in academic and research and compliance of higher education standards. University Grants Commission aims to reinforce trust in doctoral scholarship at a time when AI-generated content is becoming increasingly common right from literature reviews to drafting and scholarly publishing. This reflects the regulator's broader push to preserve the quality and authenticity of higher education research in India. As per a COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guideline that joins organizations such as WAME and JAMA network, states that the use of Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT or large language models in research publications is expanding rapidly and it cannot be listed as an author. I am pleased to inform that the Scopus-indexed - Journal of Indian Library Association (JILA) has taken care of AI policies and ethical guidelines through stringent plagiarism tool. Further, the JILA has adopted the recent guidelines issued by UGC amid growing concerns that the rapid adoption of AI-powered writing tools could compromise the originality and credibility of academic research.
