A Bibliometric Study of LIS Articles in JILA, Library Herald and ALIS Journals

This study provides a bibliometric analysis of research articles published between 2020 to 2024 in three prominent Indian Library & Information Science (LIS) journals- Journal of Indian Library Association (JILA), Library Herald (HL), and Annals of Library & Information Studies during period 2020 to 2024; data were gathered from the official websites of the chosen journals and the dataset was analyzed using descriptive bibliometrics technique with Microsoft excel to look at authorship patterns, geographic distribution, subject wise themes, and annual growth of publications. Gupta B.M. emerged as the most prolific author among the 929 authors to the 601 articles covered by the analysis. Bibliometrics. Scientometrics, Webometrics, Altmetrics and citation analysis collectively accounted for 178 articles, with two author papers making up the most common authorship pattern (52.7%). While research work was concentrated, JILA published the greatest number of articles. The result presents a revised description of LIS research productivity in India, emphasizing prominent authors, key topics, and geographical disparities.
