LIBRARY SERVICES AND FACILITIES DISTRICT CENTRAL LIBRARIES OF CENTRAL COASTAL DISTRICTS OF ANDHRA PRADESH: A SURVEY

Abstract

The study confined to District Central Libraries in three districts of the central coastal area of Andhra Pradesh state i.e. Krishna, West Godavari, and East Godavari which are offering services to users at the district level. This study covered various topics at the District Library level in form of opinions of librarians like infrastructure, equipment, information resources procured as books/ periodicals/ Newspapers and magazines covered. Librarians' study was also gathered and presents data with regard to types of information services both traditional and ICT-based services provided by the District Central Public Libraries (DCPLs). Public Libraries. One of the prime sources of knowledge and information have become desolate and their importance has slowly been reduced with the steep decline in the sanctioning and release of funds. Over the last couple of decades, the establishment of new public Libraries or modernization of existing Libraries can hardly be observed. It is indicated that all three libraries were located at their district headquarters. And also noticed that the three libraries were stabled in the year 1952. The results with the view of ICT based library services offered by the District Central Libraries. Except few services i.e. Internet access, Downloading, Printing and Scanning were offered.
