Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of automation on the services and operations of libraries of Technical Institutions of Delhi-NCR (India). The survey method has been used for collecting the relevant data through questionnaire and informal interviews from the randomly chosen samples from the selected libraries. The finding of the study reveals that Technical Institution Libraries have actively participated in the implementation of automation system in their libraries and moving towards the implementation of smart technologies like RFID Technology. Also, the current study highlights that few libraries are facing some constraints in the delivery of automated library services which include paucity of space, lack of awareness about the available automated library services/facilities, and lack of sufficient ICT skills, etc. The overall results of the study shows that automation has a positive impact in the management and delivery of library resources in all the libraries under study.
