Abstract

This paper will explore the current situation of recruitment of government jobs in India and will focus on Library and Information Science. It will study the trends in recruitment, the criteria of being recruited, the issues faced by the applicants and the evolving position of LIS professionals in government services. Through such analysis, the study aims at providing realizations of the effectiveness of the recruitment activities that occur and make recommendations on the recruitment process and the status of LIS professionals within the Indian government environment. This study aims to examine the available Job opportunities in the Indian market under the LIS framework during the period January 2021 to December 2022 and specifically the purpose of the study is to Inquire into job notifications published in the LIS portal.com in terms of trend using the different criteria such as the year and month of posting of the notification (i.e. frequency of postings), qualifications required, designations, the institution, the types of reservations, geographical region and/or states that the job feather is in operation. It also provides a detailed view of the job market of LIS and gets into the description and analysis of the transforming requirements and practices of professional people in this field.
