CONTENT ANALYSIS OF LIBRARY WEBSITES OF INSTITUTES OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE IN MAHARASHTRA, INDIA: AN EVALUATIVE STUDY

Abstract

The primary role of institute libraries in an institute's setup is to serve as information hubs and resource centers. Libraries must consider the needs of their users when designing and developing their websites, integrating their resources and services effectively. The focus of the current study is content analysis of Library websites of Institutes of National Importance (INIs) in Maharashtra, India. The necessary content information was gathered from November to December 2023 by searching, perusing, and evaluating the library websites of the selected institutes. Google search engine, institutional web directories, and official government or university sources were used to find the library websites of the investigated institutes. Users of the libraries at the following four institutes: IISER Pune, VNIT Nagpur, IIIT Nagpur, and IIT Bombay, can access their individual webpages directly. IIIT Pune, IIM Nagpur and AIIMS Nagpur studied Institute Library websites are accessed through their Institute websites. Out of the seven institutes in Maharashtra IIT Bombay scored the most with 42 points, providing the most information on their library website. IISER Pune came in second with 32 points, and VNIT Nagpur came in third with 23 points. Of the Seven Institute libraries, IIT Bombay of their websites were classified as "Excellent" in terms of content analysis.
