The universe of subjects is becoming more dynamic. A classification scheme may work well for a variety of subjects at one time, but it may not be effective later. Because the universe of subjects keeps changing, it is essential to regularly update the classification scheme to keep up with this growth. To do this, the scheme must be established within an institution. The scheme's success will mainly depend on how well the institution manages it. The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system is trying to manage its coverage to cope up with the ever-evolving knowledge landscape. It incorporates new topics and refines existing ones, ensuring its relevance in our rapidly changing world. With an impressive 22 revisions, the DDC has consistently demonstrated its commitment to staying current and responsive to user needs. As we embark on the 23rd revision, it presents a unique opportunity to deepen our understanding of this vital tool. This study aims to highlight the transformative journey of the DDC over the current century, showcasing its vital role in the organisation of knowledge.
